Revolutionizing Outpatient Rehabilitation with Patented NASA Unweighting
The AlterG® NEO makes world-class Anti-Gravity Treadmill™ technology available for clinics of all sizes. Utilizing patented Differential Air Pressure (DAP) originally engineered through NASA space research, the NEO system applies a uniform, comfortable upward lifting force across the patient’s lower body. Unlike cumbersome overhead suspension harnesses that alter posture and cause groin discomfort, or hydrotherapy pools that lack precise load quantification, AlterG NEO provides an airtight, calibrated air chamber that enables patients to walk and run with natural biomechanics, zero joint impact pain, and absolute clinical safety.
Patented DAP Technology
Reduces effective body weight from 100% down to 20% in precise 1% increments, allowing clinicians to dial in the exact threshold for pain-free movement.
21-Inch Touchscreen Console
Vibrant, intuitive clinical user interface designed for rapid patient setup, instant parameter adjustment, and automated session recording.
Motorized Cockpit Ergonomics
Electric height calibration and wide-opening magnetic closure simplify entry and exit for elderly, post-surgical, and mobility-impaired patients.
How Differential Air Pressure (DAP) Works
Originally conceptualized by NASA researchers to simulate gravity for astronauts in space, AlterG inverted the concept to reduce gravity’s impact on earthbound patients. The patient wears specialized neoprene shorts featuring a flexible airtight zipper that seals securely into the treadmill’s pressurized air chamber. Once zipped in, the system initiates an automated calibration sequence to calculate the patient’s exact mass.
Individual calibration establishes baseline mass in seconds. The comfortable neoprene shorts ensure zero air leakage and full pelvic mobility.
Positive pressure inside the chamber gently lifts the patient at their center of mass, unloading joint impact without restrictive harnesses.
Clinicians increase or decrease body weight support by single percentage points, identifying the exact threshold where pain ceases.
Comprehensive Clinical Indications
The AlterG NEO provides transformative outcomes across a diverse patient caseload, bridging the gap between non-weight-bearing restrictions and full functional ambulation:
Orthopedic & Post-Op Rehab
Total knee & hip arthroplasty (TKR/THR), ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs, ankle fractures, Achilles tendinopathy, and stress fracture reconditioning.
Neurological Gait Retraining
Stroke (CVA) recovery, Parkinson’s disease gait stabilization, traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis (MS), and incomplete spinal cord injuries.
Sports Injury Recovery
Cardiovascular conditioning during lower extremity recovery, safe return-to-run protocols, shin splints, and muscle strain management.
Geriatric Mobility & Fall Prevention
Safe, fear-free ambulation for frail or balance-impaired elderly individuals, building leg strength and aerobic capacity with zero fall risk.
Bariatric & Chronic Disease Care
Joint-friendly aerobic exercise for high-BMI patients, osteoarthritis sufferers, and diabetic neuropathy management up to 400 lbs (181 kg).
